Steps In Car Detailing For Beginners

For beginners, usually want to try car detailing independently, but car detailing for beginners is also not easy. If you want to detail your car professionally, you can drop by mobile detailing orlando. But, here are the steps in car detailing for beginners.

The list:
1. wash
2. clay
3. polish
4. waxed

The 4 steps above are the most common. depending on the condition of the car, these 4 steps have made our car stand out and better maintained than other cars.

1. Wash
Wash lots of ways. If I always start from the dirtiest part. Wheels, tires and wheel arches are in direct contact with the road which means the dirtiest.

equipment:
a. wheel cleaner or all-purpose cleaner
b. brush
c. sponge
d. brush

After the wheels, tires and wheel arches are clean, just start washing the body. Washing the body also starts from the top then down so that the wash mitt/sponge that is used does not get dirty first on the bottom. May you start by rinsing the car so that the dust falls out, then foam first and followed by washing using wash mitt and two buckets. The purpose of the two buckets method is to rinse the dirty wash mitt in a bucket of clean water and then put it in soapy water. The goal is not to carry any dirt that can cause beret.

Equipment:
a. car soap
b. 2 buckets
c. water hose
d. clean water
e. wash mitt/sponge
f. chamois/microfiber/ waffle weave drying towel
g. blower

Rinse and dry it! The drying method is also not as difficult as it wants to pan, just relax slowly and no pressure so that no smooth berets arise. Continue step 2!

2. Clay
What is the purpose of clay? Clay is to lift dirt stuck to the surface that is not lifted when washing with soap. Any clay that can lift? Paint overspray, bird droppings, tar, asphalt, dry cement, paint transfer, brake dust, water scale, etc. How to do it? Wet the parts of the car you want to work with water / soapy water. You can also use quick detailer/clay lubricant. Depending on the budget, I will start claying people. Slowly don’t use pressure, let the clay glide lift the dirt. After the decontamination process is finished, touch the surface. If it’s already smooth it means the claying is correct then dry the surface with a microfiber towel. Claying is generally 3-6 months.

Equipment:
a. clay bar/clay towel
b. quick detailer/soap water/clay lubricant
c. microfiber towel

3. Polish
After the paint is free of impurities, it’s time to polish to remove swirl marks, scratches, oxidation and restore gloss. Polish can use hands or machines. Generally use very tired hands, so for beginners/hobbyists may buy DA machines. DA machines are safe for beginners. Easy to learn, use and affordable.

How to do it:

By yourself: use a hand buffing pad, give 3-4 drops of polish medicine then start to scrub the surface until the swirls disappear, then wipe using a microfiber towel until the surface is clean.

By DA: I usually use polishing pad then speed 4-5, do 2-3 section passes then wipe using a microfiber towel until the surface is clean. Don’t forget to check using the LED lights if the swirls are gone/reduced! Polish is recommended 2x per year (maximum 3x). Because polish will erode the clear coat.

Equipment:
a. polish
b. hand buffing pad
c. DA machine + polishing pad
d. microfiber towel

4. Wax / Sealant
The aim is to give a thin layer to the car to protect it from dust, water, dirt, etc. Besides, the different wax will give a different finishing look at each car. So many factors! paint colour, character wax, curing time, etc. The trick: use the applicator pad, then pour 2-3 drops of wax/sealant (if liquid) then start to apply on the surface evenly. After that wait / immediately remove (depending on the instructions of each wax/sealant) using a microfiber towel. The wax/sealant results are usually between wet look, deep look, glassy or warm. Depending on the character of the paint again (solid, metallic, Cyrillic or pearlescent). The sealant usually has higher durability than wax because of its all chemical nature. If the wax contains organic matter, such as carnauba.

Equipment:
a. wax/sealant
b. applicator pad
c. DA machine (optional)
d. microfiber towel

Additional steps:
5. Tire dressing/tire polish.
the goal is to prevent the tire from browning effect/browning. as well as making the image of the car look clean and well-maintained.

Equipment:
a. tire dressing
b. applicator pad

Finished 4 stages of detailing for beginners/hobbyists. If you already like this, just maintain maintenance after washing.
